About Me

Headshot editI’m a New Yorker through and through. I walk fast, I talk faster, and I’m quick to judge on first impressions. That said, I’m always striving to broaden my horizons through travel, food, and dialogue. I love to explore and to challenge myself to see new places and get out of my urban comfort zone. What I love even more is studying how people relate to their food culture and what role nutrition plays in the lives of others. I’m on a journey to find out what moves people to eat, how cultures shape our relationships with food, and what we can do to improve the health of our communities. I don’t hold back. I’m always looking to learn more, try harder, and be better. If you’re on that same journey, than join me and let’s talk.

  1. Hi, I stumbled on your blog via Bonnie’s. I’m a complete newbie to blogging, but I share you curiosity and passion for nutrition and food. I’m looking forward to reading more from you and getting good recipe tips 🙂

    1. Thanks SO much for all the info!! This is very helpful. I need to make some time this week and weekend to sit and read the research. I hear so many people talking about paleo and I’m really curious to learn more about it. Thanks again and I’ll keep you posted about the blog post. 🙂

      1. My pleasure! I get just as excited to discover new ways of eating. I may give Paleo a try. First I need to be prepared though. I have quite a bit of things in my fridge that aren’t paleo and I like to start fresh when I begin anything new. Keep me posted on what you discover, I am always eager to learn 🙂 Thanks again!

    1. Thanks for checking in Eva! I’m finally back with power and I just posted an upside. It was such an insane week and I’m still having trouble processing everything. Wasn’t I just here talking to you about how this wasn’t going to be a big deal? Gosh, I’m eating my words let me tell you. But we were safe the whole week and we had lots of supplies. Now we’re just waiting for the heat and our cable/wifi to get up and running. We’re much better off than so many others in the city and it breaks my heart to hear what people are going through right now. I’m trying to find a blood drive to donate and see how else I can help out. For now we’re just trying to get back to normal, whatever that is. Ugh. Thanks again for checking in Eva! I’m looking forward to getting back to it and reading other blogs. I saw you posted something about relief efforts, so that will be my first stop! Hope Toronto was spared from the worst of Sandy and that you and yours are okay. 🙂 xo

      1. You’re very welcome Maribel! I am sorry to hear that things got worse than you had anticipated. You had to think positive though and couldn’t predict the worst. Thank God that you are ok. I cannot believe the devastation in New York and areas like Staten Island and New Jersey. Toronto had severe winds but we escaped the worst of it. Other parts of Canada that are close to the water got severe damage as well, though nothing like the US. Watching the news breaks my heart. I wish there was more I could do. I went on a rant earlier as my passionate nature doesn’t allow for much censorship at times. I had to get it off my chest. I want these poor souls to get their lives back, to have warm safe homes, food and water. I hope you get things up and running fast and that things will be more “normal” again. Thinking of you xoxo Éva
