I’m on the I-95 headed to Philadelphia, tablet in hand, iPod playing my soundtrack for the drive, trying to ignore the conversations around me, and the smell of McDonald’s in the air.
I couldn’t be happier than I am at the moment.
In a year filled with so many ups and downs, one constant that I could always turn to were my close friends.
They are the most incredible people I know and each of them has left her mark on the person I am today. There will never be enough words to fully express how thankful I am to have met them and opened up to them over the years.
And in spite of the downs, the perpetually busy schedule, the hustle of travel and deadlines, I’m heading to Philly with a light heart because I’m going to celebrate with one of these amazing women who is getting married.
I’m saving all the love I have to share for her wedding speech but I will say this: My love for her and for our friendship has no boundaries because we have proven to each other how much we mean to each other time and time again. Her fiance sees that love and I’m eternally grateful to him for understanding that we are all part of a family. He not only understands but he encourages that connection, something I’ve realized is so hard to find in a partner.
Thank you to him and thank you to her, for shaking me free of my disillusionment with romantic love by showing me what is possible when two people commit to something truly great. I love you both, now and always.
This is it from me this week since I’ll be putting all of my energy into the wedding festivities this weekend. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear from you! Tell me, what are you grateful for this week??
Please, feel free to share your thoughts below or on Facebook.
As always, keep paying it forward and stay healthy. 🙂
I’m grateful for you and you’re wonderful speech!!!! (both versions 😉 I LOVE YOU!
